This Stanley No. 48 is an antique matching tongue and groove plane which dates between 1890 to 1898 and is in nice condition. Patented in 1875, it is designed to cut both the tongue and the matching groove for tight edge-to-edge board joints in 3/4" to 1-1/4" thick stock. Uses a unique swinging fence mechanism that pivots to expose one iron for cutting grooves or two irons for cutting tongues. This plane is missing the two iron cutter blades. Overall dimensions are 11 3/4”L x 6”H, and weighs 2lb 3 oz.
