A Good Plus antique Stanley No. 1 hickory round head mallet. Stanley offered this style of mallet from the 1860's until about 1929 (at least that is when they drop from the catalogs). The last photo shows a 1911 catalog which shows the examples and specifications of each mallet offered. Stanley usually marked the round head mallets on the face, which becomes obscure with any use (as with this one). There is some light use shown, but overall, very nice with a solidly seated handle. The handle is designed to be removed from through the top of the head, as desired. This one matches the catalog specifications: 5" x 3" head and 10-1/2" long, weighing 1.3 pounds.
